Marked only Cast Steel No 1 this hand forged butcher cleaver with brass ferrule and turned wood handle is in remarkably good condition.
The corner of the heel has been eased and theres a split in the brass ferrule, otherwise its in very good condition, the blade is still very full with no hammer marks to the spine aside from a cleaned off corner above the hanging hole) and handle free from cracks.
Having only general markings it is hard to put a precise date on this but it is likely mid 19th C
